Suggestion Program

Treasury Department should have an easy to find suggestion program that anyone can submit ideas to. The suggestion program should allow for awards which could be a percentage of the first year's cost savings. Awards would only be given to suggestions that are approved and amount is based on a small percentage of the savings (I have seen 3%-25% in various programs)so government is saving funding and most suggestions... more »

Bail out Responsible Homeowners.

The housing market needs to fall and prices need to be realigned with what the population is earning. Although prices seem like they've fallen quite a bit already, this is only true if you are comparing them to what they were at the height of the boom. The boom was a result of many irresponsible groups of people who allowed overpriced houses to be sold to under qualified buyers. By implementing incentives and strategies... more »

Double the Funding of the Wikimedia Foundation

The Wikimedia Foundation runs the largest non-profit charity web sites, including the only top-10 web site with a female Chief Technical Officer. The Wikimedia Foundation should be granted an additional $20 million for countering active administrator attrition and creating an integrated self-study, learner-adaptive, low-stakes text and speech quiz system which would allow the Wikimedia Foundation to meet the charitable... more »

Transmodal concentric timezoning

Please don't think me pretentious however, the creative dynamics behind this theorum of collective economic and/or daily commercial commuting is far to elaborate to merely convey in such short forum. I can assure you that I have studied, contemplated, and performed near return analysis on these intertwined formuli if you will. If given the proper resources and time (approx) 12-15 (due to seasonal variables in travel modes)... more »

saxon mortgage/HAMP program

I have issues with the way that some mortgage companies are abusing the government help. They are taking money and stating that they are going to help the homeowners under this HAMP plan with the way they are servicing the way the do with Trail Payment Plan. I feel if you are going to make the home owners commit to signing a binding document such as the 3 month Trail payment program and states that they have to keep the... more »

Other OpenGov Ideas & Information Resources

Rather than post each of my "OpenGov" Ideas at 27 different websites, I have posted them at the GSA's website (since they are in the forefront of the OpenGov initiative). So, by this notice, the members of the OpenGov Team for your agency have been informed of those ideas. (At least, now, you can't say you were unaware of them.)

Bring back TeleTax or a simplified form

TeleTax was a well rated, effective way of filing a tax return for millions of people until it was unnecessarily closed. For the majority of people, something like TeleTax or a simplified form that can be filled out on the IRS website (not some random third-party website) should take the place of the 1040EZ. It should allow the IRS to make all the calculations and send the refund/bill. Simplified processes that take less... more »

OpenTreasury v2.0: A Next Gen Opensource/OpenSocial Portal

A pilot project to build a next-gen Dept of Treasury portal for the Federal Community Cloud. The idea is to build a suite of opensocial portals, one at each Federal Agency, based on The Open Stack that will enable communication with all opensocial partners.

CDS transactions on exchange to provide data to calculate risk

You can also use computational biology (via an algorithm similar to Google's Page Rank algorithm) to analyze the CDS relationships between companies to determine if the extinction of a company would cause the collapse of the financial ecosystem.

Implement Auto Filing

Why do millions of Americans have to waste time filling out their own IRS forms, when their taxes are simple and the IRS already knows what they owe?

Amend the Internal Revenue Code to require the Secretary of the Treasury to establish a program for mailing pre-filled income tax returns to assist certain taxpayers who may be eligible for the earned income tax credit in completing their tax returns.

This was proposed... more »
