The Department of Treasury should live webcast all meetings

The Department of Treasury should live webcast all meetings for proposed rule making and regulations where the public comment should take place. They should make these meetings available for on demand viewing and have the ability to have that content be indexed for video search. By doing this the public and stakeholders will be able to see the inner workings of the rule making process and make the content and proceedings ...more »

Bring back TeleTax or a simplified form

TeleTax was a well rated, effective way of filing a tax return for millions of people until it was unnecessarily closed. For the majority of people, something like TeleTax or a simplified form that can be filled out on the IRS website (not some random third-party website) should take the place of the 1040EZ. It should allow the IRS to make all the calculations and send the refund/bill. Simplified processes that take less ...more »

Implement Auto Filing

Why do millions of Americans have to waste time filling out their own IRS forms, when their taxes are simple and the IRS already knows what they owe? Amend the Internal Revenue Code to require the Secretary of the Treasury to establish a program for mailing pre-filled income tax returns to assist certain taxpayers who may be eligible for the earned income tax credit in completing their tax returns. This was proposed ...more »

Public relations........

Taking under consideration the mess we are in. I would think our Govt. needs to be held accountable for promisses made, confront those who are corrupt, move to establish a stonger enforcment of laws. Those who would seek to destroy our country should be punished. Secure our boarders and for those who are in our country, that are practicitng war games to over throw our country( 300 at last count). Get rid of them before ...more »

Transmodal concentric timezoning

Please don't think me pretentious however, the creative dynamics behind this theorum of collective economic and/or daily commercial commuting is far to elaborate to merely convey in such short forum. I can assure you that I have studied, contemplated, and performed near return analysis on these intertwined formuli if you will. If given the proper resources and time (approx) 12-15 (due to seasonal variables in travel modes) ...more »

Repeal Federal Income Taxes

My idea is to repeal the federal income tax as we know it. Instead, institute a 5% federal sales tax on all consumer goods. I know that this sounds drastic but read further, please. In todays business world there are so many people that are self employed and fall behind on their taxes because of an inability to make ends meet or math? Under this idea ,and foward thinking everyone not the rich , middle class, and not the ...more »

Transparency in spending

Implement a searchable database of every expenditure of federal money. Allow full search of every check written by the Treasury, searchable by date, department, district, and authorizing law. Obviously some expenditures would need to be aggregated for security or privacy reasons, but this very concept has already been implemented by banks and credit card companies for personal accounts. The same level of visibility ...more »

Internal Revenue Service

Modernize the IRS to allow individuals who have grievances about how an IRS case is handled to make the process less paper-intensive and more due-process oriented. The overwhelming perception that the current system is a virtually "closed process" where extagent circumstances cannot be discussed prior to full compliance, a formal hearing delays handling enormously and case resolutions are inflexible.

OpenTreasury v2.0: A Next Gen Opensource/OpenSocial Portal

A pilot project to build a next-gen Dept of Treasury portal for the Federal Community Cloud. The idea is to build a suite of opensocial portals, one at each Federal Agency, based on The Open Stack that will enable communication with all opensocial partners.
